Progression servers gate content behind stages, ranks, quests, or timed unlocks, so you start with limited recipes, worlds, or gear and gradually unlock stronger items, new dimensions/areas, and extra features as you complete goals. It’s common on modded packs, RPG/quest servers, and some SMPs that roll out tech tiers or world access over time.
