Servers that let clients from multiple Minecraft versions join the same server, usually by running on one version and using protocol plugins/proxies (like ViaVersion/ViaBackwards). Gameplay is typically based on the server’s actual version, so newer blocks/items may be limited or shown differently for older clients.
