Servers tagged version 1.16-1.17 run on Minecraft 1.16.x or 1.17.x, or support clients across that range via plugins. They’re basically Nether Update through early Caves & Cliffs, so you’ll see nether biomes and mobs like piglins/striders, plus 1.17 stuff like copper, amethyst, goats, and axolotls, without the later 1.18+ worldgen changes.
