Servers tagged datapacks usually run mostly vanilla Minecraft but use datapacks to add or tweak mechanics server-side, like custom crafting recipes, loot tables, advancements, worldgen changes, small QoL features, or light RPG-style systems. Players typically don’t need to install anything, and the experience is still closer to vanilla than a full modded server.
