Servers with a progression system add some kind of leveling or unlock path beyond vanilla, usually tied to grinding skills, completing quests, or ranking up. As you progress you unlock perks, commands, gear tiers, areas, or new mechanics, and the server is built around having long-term goals rather than just freeform survival.
