Prison servers are progression servers where you start in a jail/prison setting and mine in designated mines to earn money and rank up through tiers. Ranking unlocks new mines, shops, commands, and areas, and the gameplay is mostly grind, economy trading, and often PvP zones or side features like gangs, quests, and prestiges.
