MCMMO servers run the mcMMO plugin (or a similar skills plugin) that adds RPG-style leveling for activities like mining, woodcutting, fishing, and combat. As you level skills you unlock passive perks and occasional special abilities, so progression and grinding skills is a core part of gameplay, usually alongside survival, factions, or towny.
