Servers with competitive ranks have a ladder/elo-style ranking system where you gain or lose rating based on performance, usually in PvP modes (duels, arenas, kit PvP) and sometimes in other competitive minigames. They typically include leaderboards, seasons/resets, and rank tiers you climb through by winning.
